The automotive industry has learned a great deal and significantly improved the design of their safety systems through baseline regression testing, otherwise known as crash testing. Manufacturers use sophisticated dummies to record how a collision affects the occupants of a vehicle, then analyze the data to help create improved designs which can be evaluated in another test.
