"dRuby is a failure."
I resolved to give this talk after hearing these words from the authors of other libraries.
In the talk I'll introduce some common asynchronous programming patterns and show how common themes in asynchronous programming are actually all about programming synchronously.
I will also touch on asynchronous function calls in Ruby, the design philosophy of dRuby, and what Drip was aimed to solve.
Target audiences:
people with intermediate to advanced-level programming experience with high-level multiplexing languages that use select and TCP, such as Node.js, X11 and dRuby
enthusiasts of Linda languages and actor-based models
